Arrive at the rafting starting point at Sapan Village, where our team will be waiting. Put on your life jacket and helmet and prepare your paddle before entering the river. Any belongings that are not required during the rafting trip should be left in the van, which will transport them to the accommodation for the evening.
-
Once everyone and the rafts are ready, our staff will conduct a comprehensive safety briefing. Khun Nan National Park officers will also be present to observe the activity and take photographs.
Each raft accommodates 5 guests with 3 rafting staff members. Today’s rafting route covers approximately 40 km and takes around 6 hours, including rafting and hiking around certain rapids.
There are two sections where guests must leave the river and walk around the rapids: Tham Hok Rapid and Wang Pian Rapid. These rapids are highly challenging and involve increased risk, with difficult rescue access in the event of a raft capsize. Guests will walk in single file along the cliffside on a steep and slippery trail to reach a point where the rafting team will bring the rafts to meet them.
The Upper Wa River primarily runs through long, narrow rocky gorges and is narrower than the Middle Wa River. Rocks and fallen trees may occasionally obstruct sections of the river, while numerous rapids of varying sizes occur in close succession. Rescue can be difficult if a guest falls into the water, so following the raft guide’s instructions and remaining calm in the event of falling overboard are extremely important.
This section of the rafting route is located within Khun Nan National Park -
